Control4 has long had a generic Vantage InFusion driver.  This driver works fine for lights and keypads.  However, it lacks full implementation of all InFusion systems like HVAC, Relay, Tasks etc. That's where this driver comes in.  In addition to providing all the same features that the original driver has, this driver also incorporates the pieces that really 'integrate' InFusion and Control4 together.

 Main Driver

  • Only Supports IP for fast communication with the Control4
  • Can work in Conjunction with Control4's existing Vantage driver
  • Control of 25 relays on the InFusion system.  Driver creates binding so the 'relays' can show up in the correct locations on the GUI
  • Better Light Driver handling.  This driver ramp speed and preset level when 'pressing' the light on the Control4 MyHome device.
  • Fire a Specific Lighting Scene in Composer programming
  • Send Custom Vantage command from Composer programming (advanced users only!)
  • Task Implementation.  When a task is 'executed' via Vantage the variable TASK under the main driver will store the task number for custom programming

Light Driver

  • All Control4 Lighting features are available
  • Ability to 'set' the preset level, click up/down ramp rates
  • Works with all Control4 interfaces
  • Dealer can create Control4 lighting scenes with Vantage lights including ramp rate and level
  • Full 2 way feedback of light levels

Thermostat Driver

  • Provides control of HEAT, COOL, AUTO and OFF modes in Control4
  • 2-way feedback of temperature and setpoints of Vantage thermostats

Keypad Driver

  • Provides control of Vantage keypad including all 10 button pushes in Composer programming
  • Can monitor button pushes from Vantage or send them
  • Multiple Keypad drivers can be added giving dealers unlimited access to Vantage keypads

 Driver Installation/Explanation of options:

It is recommended that a Vantage specialist help you with setup if you unsure how to do any of this.  The items you will need to work this driver are the Vantage VID numbers for the devices you'll be controlling.  Below is an outline of what each driver can do.

ñ Main Driver

◦  The Vantage_Cinegration_InFusion_Network driver must be installed into the project before any other Vantage devices are added.  If this is done in reverse, the dealer must go to connections and 'bind' the respective drivers to the main driver manually.

◦  There can be multiple versions of this driver but it is not recommend as the automatic assignment and Control4 director get confused during high data traffic.

◦  Installation Procedure:

▪  Enter the IP Address of the InFusion system under Connections/Network.

▪  If Relays are being used

ñ Type the VID numbers of the relay loads under System Design.  Keep track of which devices go to which load slot in the driver.

ñ Add Proxy devices corresponding to these loads into the project

ñ Under Connections, bind the proxy devices to their corresponding slot address under the main driver

▪  Add Cinegration/Vantage Slave Device drivers to the project

◦  Driver Actions/Events

▪  Composer Action (System Design Tab)

ñ Send Status All to Vantage

◦  This Action MUST be pressed after all devices and connections have been made to the driver.

◦  Pressing this button will send a message to vantage to tell the Control4 about all statuses and updates that happen on the Vantage system.  The Control4 driver will process all these messages and send them out to the respective devices as needed.

ñ Link Slave Drivers

◦  This Action is a backup button in case the dealer added the main driver after they added the devices below.  The Vantage Main driver holds a table containing all the VID numbers and Control4 ID numbers in the project and will only send status update messages only to the driver that matches both the Control4 ID number and Vantage VID number.  This allows to driver to have a much smaller footprint on director and operate quicker in large projects.

◦  If this button is pushed it will ask all the slave drivers in the project to 'link' up with the main driver so 2 way communication will work.

▪  Composer Events/Actions (Programming Tab)

ñ Task VID

◦  This driver has Events and Actions associated with Tasks.

◦  The Task Event will be executed every time there is a task that is received from Vantage.  There is a custom event for each 'EVENT_TYPE' that can be received from Vantage.

◦  The Variable under this driver 'TASK' will store the VID number of the last task that was received for custom Control4 programming

◦  If you are implementing this driver for Task sending you will need the Task VID number and the Task Type (PRESS, RELEASE, HOLD, TIMER, DATA, POSITION, INRANGE, OUTOFRANGE, TEMPERATURE, DAYMODE, FANMODE, OPERATIONMODE, CONNECT, DISCONNECT, BOOT, LEARN, CANCEL, NONE)

▪  You will create this command and add it to the script window for custom task programming

ñ LightScene Action

◦  This action will fire a button press or lighting scene execution.  To use this action you will need the VID number associated with this lighting scene in Vantage.

ñ VCOMMAND Action

◦  This action is a custom command that can be sent directly to Vantage.  The command must be structured in accordance with the Vantage ASCII protocol and end with a \r. Warning: This was intended for advanced users only!

  • Light Driver

◦  Installation

▪  It is assumed that this driver was added AFTER the main driver was added to the project

▪  Enter the LOAD VID number for this dimmer location

▪  This is all that needs to be entered for this driver to work.

◦  Composer Options (System Design Tab)

▪  Preset_Level, Click_Up_Rate, Click_Down_Rate

ñ These options will modify their respective options.  These were added so a dealer could 'customize' the on or click rates

▪  Current_Light_Level

ñ This property shows the current level that the light is at.  This property is also a great troubleshooting property as it updates every time the light updates.

▪  Driver Information

ñ This property shows current information with the driver status

◦  Lighting Scenes

▪  Once the driver has been added to the project, all normal Control4 light switch options and programming tactics apply.

ñ Thermostat Driver

◦  Installation

▪  It is assumed that this driver was added AFTER the main driver was added to the project

▪  Dealer will need to enter the Device VID, Temperature VID, Heat Setpoint VID and if there is a cool setpoint, that VID will have to be entered also.

▪  Adjust the scale at the top of the thermostat to Celsius or Fahrenheit

▪  The Driver Information property will show if the thermostat VID's are correct and the last temperature that has been received for this device

◦  Notes:

▪  This driver operates like a normal thermostat driver in everyway except using the schedule or Vacation mode (we intend to add this in the future if demand is high enough).

ñ Keypad Driver

◦  Installation

▪  It is assumed that this driver was added AFTER the main driver was added to the project

▪  This driver can monitor 10 Button VID's  per driver.  These buttons do not have to be on the same keypad.

▪  Enter the VID numbers you want to monitor

Uses

Under Programming, there is an event for each button press and release.  Use these to actuate Control4 programming (example: Customer has first 4 buttons on the Vantage keypad for lighting, you can use the remaining 4 to turn on the theater, fire a party scene, send an email or arm the security system

Under Programming, there are actions button presses for all 10 button VID's on the driver.  These can be bound to custom buttons or other events in Control4 (excellent way to do phantom button pushes)

Notes:

  •  A VID number is a Vantage ID number. Depending on the type of device you are trying to control there may be more than one VID number required (example, Thermostats, require 3 to 4 VID numbers for functionality).
  • This driver only works with the Vantage InFusion system (not the Q system).  Also, this driver only works with IP communication due to the lag that happens with RS232.
  • This driver contains code written by Cinegration.  Any modification to this driver or any driver written by Cinegration without the express consent will void all warranties, constitute a ban on all drivers released by Cinegration and potentially legal action.
  • This driver has been designed to work with Control4® 2.6.0 Systems and higher
  • Using the DB25 on the front requires that you hook up your RS232 on the Control4 to:

Pin 2 (Tx), Pin 3 (Rx), Pin 7 (Gnd)

This will display DEALER HAS PLUGGED INTO THE DIAGNOSTIC PORT on the driver information tab and will result in lower speed quality.. however, this will work for most applications if the RS232 on the back of the controller is being used or RF communication is in use.

Warranty:

Cinegration strives to provide fully working drivers without defects.  However, changes and bugs may be found.  Because of this, any bug/maintenance update to this driver will be free of charge.  However, due to the ever changing nature of computer and audio/video systems, if a new version of the Control4® software creates issues with this driver, or feature enhancements, an upgrade version will be provided for an additional expense or free as determined by Cinegration LLC.
